Japanese Manual Therapy

Amatsu Tatara Medicine was developed over many hundred of years in Japan. It uses both traditional and scientific rationales from within its treatment approach.

  • Treatments often employ a whole-body approach to address injury and subsequent biomechanical adaptions.
  • Treatments involve acupressure type techniques, massage, together with joint mobilisations and manipulations.
  • Treatments can be either very soft, or slightly stronger, depending on the patient’s choice and needs.
  • Advice on movement and posture alterations can also be given to reduce the chances of injury reoccurrences.
  • In addition, it offers advice on lifestyle, diet, breathing methods, walking, exercise and stretching.

Regular treatments take approximately half an hour, but more complex cases may take approximately an hour.

Peter King is the most qualified western practitioner of this method. He holds a full licence (Menkyo Kaiden) from Japan, together with a number of other high level qualifications.

He is also the author of ‘Life Secrets of the Amatsu Tatara’, which is the definitive guide to this method.
